Frankly, I've had a copy of this album since last Fall and I didn't quite really "get" it until the live rendition last week. When it hit me, it did like a ton of bricks. It was really quite an emotional moment when the fundamental meaning of the words and melodies took shape.<BR/>However, I'm sad to say that I couldn't disagree with you more about Thirteen. The inimitable voice of Sharon Van Etten, who can sing like a haunting angel, fits perfectly in the one moment when the female character speaks. The voice makes the listener uncertain as to whether she is a dream, a nightmare, or the real character speaking.
